Event: Ironman Vichy
Date: August 24th 2019
IRONMAN Vichy is a classic course and one of France’s most spectacular IRONMAN events. It all kicks off with a swim in Lake Allier where the course follows the rowing lanes through calm waters before returning to shore to take on the cycle route through the French countryside’s Allier and Puy de Dôme.
The 2019 IRONMAN Vichy will feature a new bike course which has yet to be announced and which will add a new challenge to an already exciting event. The new route will give veterans of IRONMAN Vichy a reason to come back and take up the latest challenge from the event organisers. The release date hasn’t been announced yet but the rolling countryside around Vichy is a cyclist’s paradise and Auvergne’s spectacular Chaîne des Volcans is sure to feature strongly in the new bike route. Stay tuned for the official release of the new route!
Once off the bike, athletes take on the run along the shores of Lac d’Allier. The marathon course is a flat 4-loop course around the lake with a finish in the Centre Onmisports Pierre Coulon. The tree-lined boulevards of Vichy are thronged with spectators and supporters on race day, making this one of the very best finish lines in Europe if not the world. It’s no wonder then that IRONMAN Vichy won the 2017 Athletes’ Choice Awards for Overall Satisfaction and Best Post-Race Celebration – the pasta party needs to be seen to be believed!
Once the race is over and the job is done, Vichy is the perfect place for some all-important post-race recovery and relaxation. Nicknamed the Queen of Spa Towns, Vichy is home to natural thermal springs where you can soothe those tired muscles and ease your aches and pains. And what’s even better is that you won’t have to worry about storing your bike or disassembling it for your flight because Bring My Bike will be there to take care of everything. Bring My Bike’s transfer service will get your bike to IRONMAN Vichy and back again safe and sound – it’s our job to sort out the bike logistics so you can focus on your performance and enjoy the experience. You’ve done the training and put in the work so let us look after your bike.
